Korouoma Canyon & Auttiköngäs Waterfall Tour with picnic

Description

Tour with minivan to Korouoma Canyon takes one hour.

Moderate hiking 6km or 3 km. Korouoma is a 30-km-long fracture valley running from northwest to southeast on the border of the municipalities of Posio and Ranua. It is part of a fracture zone in the bedrock, which is hundreds of millions of years old. The entire zone stretches from the town of Rovaniemi and follows the Kemijoki River Valley to Autti and Auttiköngäs Falls and through Korouoma to Kuusamo.

After Korouoma Canyon transfer to Auttiköngäs Falls takes half an hour. The Auttiköngäs nature trail is a 3,5-km-long circle trail. The trail leads along the banks on both sides of the River Auttijoki across varied and quite demanding terrain. Steps and rest spots have been built on the slopes to facilitate climbing. Picnic at the middle of route. The River Auttijoki is crossed by hanging bridge.Climbing up to Könkäänvaara Hill - the area's highest point -will bring its own reward: there is a nature observation tower at the top which looks out over beautiful scenery.
