Description
Day 1: Mumbai to Varanasi – Explore the City of Shiva
Your journey starts in Mumbai, where our driver will pick you up from your home or hotel and drop you at the airport. From here, catch your flight to Varanasi (also known as Kashi or Banaras), the oldest living city in the world and India’s spiritual capital.
On arrival, our local representative will welcome you at the airport with a placard of your name and assist with your hotel check-in. After freshening up, we begin exploring the holy city:
- Kashi Vishwanath Temple – One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, this temple is the heart of Varanasi. (VIP darshan not included).
- Banaras Hindu University (BHU) – A peaceful campus famous for the Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum, showcasing rare paintings, sculptures, and cultural treasures.
- Ramnagar Fort – An 18th-century fort on the banks of the Ganga, home to royal collections, vintage cars, and weapons.
- Tulsi Manas Temple – Built at the place where saint Tulsidas wrote the Ramcharitmanas. The walls are beautifully engraved with verses from the Ramayana.
- Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple – A popular temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, believed to remove all troubles (sankat).
In the evening, witness the famous Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Priests perform rituals with oil lamps, chants, and conch shells while thousands of devotees watch. The reflection of the lamps on the river is a sight you’ll never forget.
Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Varanasi.
