Your adventure begins at the Sólheimajökull parking lot where you’ll meet your expert guide and receive all the necessary glacier equipment, including crampons, ice axes, harnesses, and helmets.
After gearing up, you’ll enjoy a 20-minute hike towards the glacier. Before stepping onto the ice, your guide will go over important safety instructions and demonstrate how to use the equipment properly.
The highlight of this tour is the to visit a stunning natural ice cave during the glacier hike activity on the breathtaking landscapes of the Solheimajokull glacier. Inside, you’ll witness the magical blue ice walls and fascinating formations that make this experience truly unforgettable.
Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier of Mýrdalsjökull, one of the largest glaciers in the south of Iceland, located near the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Along the way, you’ll discover breathtaking ice formations, crevasses, and moulins (glacier tunnels), while your guide explains how glaciers are formed and how they constantly change with time.
