Get ready for an epic day on the Ping River! Just south of Chiang Dao Valley lies The Gap — a stunning 14 km stretch of water winding through remote mountain jungle, rock gardens, and fast-flowing channels. This is one of Northern Thailand’s most exciting kayak runs, especially during high water season.
Whether you're a thrill-seeking paddler or an eager learner, this stretch has something for everyone:
- Class 2 whitewater sections challenge confident kayakers with fun rock gardens and dynamic currents.
- Beginners, guided by our pros, gain confidence as they master real river techniques in sit-on-top hard-shell kayaks or whitewater boats.
- The dramatic scenery and adrenaline-fueled water flow make it a bucket-list experience.
After a solid first stretch, we stop for a well-deserved lunch at a riverside restaurant—hidden, local, and right on the water’s edge. The second half brings you deeper into the lush Mae Ngat Valley, where the river widens and slows, offering a chance to relax and soak up the beauty before the final takeout.
8:30 am hotel pickup, morning Briefing at the shop , gear up .
White water kayaks and Sit on Top double and single kayaks available
10 am we arrive at our starting place just south of Chiang Dao Valley
Final preparations for kayaking at the riverside,
10:30 am -12:00 pm kayaking
12:00 pm lunch at the river side Restaurant
12 45 pm we continue towards Mae Ngat Valley
2: 30 pm we get to our take out spot and head to Chiang Mai by truck
3:30 pm return to the City
