Description

As an enthusiastic dinnseanchaí or local storyteller, Conor Ó Buachalla specialises in unveiling the rich layers of Irish placenames, folklore, through stories and classroom presentations. He also loves to use words from the Irish language to paint a vivid image of Ireland’s cultural landscape and history.

Booking is a two step process
  1. Check Conor's availability using the calendar on this page and submit a request for him to visit your school.
  2. Once the date and lesson is agreed with Conor, the school then have to submit a request here through the Heritage in Schools Scheme which is normally approved in 48hrs.
Costs to School

Schools must pay their contribution to the Heritage Specialist for each visit and the balance is paid by the Heritage in Schools Scheme.

The cost to the school for a full day visit at the school are

  • Primary School €100
  • Primary School DEIS €60
Payment

If you are sure of your dates, the school can pay by card in advance of Conor's visit using the booking engine in Step 1

or

Use the code PayonDay in the Promo Code box of booking engine to complete the visit request. Payment can then made on the day of Conor's visit.

Included

  • The Heritage in Schools Scheme cover the bulk of each Heritage Specialists daily rate.
    • the school make a contribution of €60 or €100 for a full day (rate depends on DEIS status)
  • The Heritage in Schools Scheme also cover the travel expenses to and from the school for the Heritage Specialist.
