Hiking the Cascada Los Frailes

Description

The first leg of the hike covers around 6 kilometers (about 1.5 hours) along a rustic mountain road. As you walk, you’ll be surrounded by a vibrant rural landscape dotted with onion fields, colorful flowers, and medicinal plants—an introduction to the region’s agricultural richness.

Reaching this Flora and Fauna Sanctuary, you’ll leave the road behind and continue along a well-marked forest trail. With regular stops, your guide will share fascinating insights into this unique ecosystem—home to playful howler monkeys, countless bird species, and an abundance of native flora.

After about 30 minutes of walking through the forest, you'll arrive at the breathtaking highlight of the tour: a stunning 70-meter waterfall cascading through the heart of the reserve.

Just 18 kilometers from Pereira. Surrounded by dense native and reforested woodland, the area is a haven for wildlife, offering one of the best spots in the region for observing howler monkeys
