Guided hike to Svartisen Glacier

Description
Svartisen Glacier is just one of those things you HAVE to visit at least once in a lifetime. The Glacier arm that lies across the mountainside, are full of deep cracks and the blue colour is a deep contrast to the white snow above. Just imagine the "King of the Glacier", Karl Johan Westermark, spent all his summers in adulthood up here! And all the expeditions! Really cool that such a small part of Norway is known all over the world!
Visit Norways second largest Glacier, and learn the history about the Glacier, surroundings and the people connected to it. Svartisen Glacier is quite large, and streches over 370 square kilometers. In the 1770s the Glacier was one big chunk of ice, but today its divided in east and west part. It is located in Rana, Meløy and Rødøy municipallies. The Glacier is one of Europes lowest Glaciers, and one of the arms, Engenbreen, is only 20-30 meters above sealevel. This makes it very accessible for most people.
We offer guided hikes to the Glacier arm Austerdalsisen, which is reachable by driving up Røvassdalen to Svartisvatnet. From there it's a boat that takes you across the lake to the other side. From the other side it's a 3 km hike to reach the Glacier.
Austerdalsisen is considered a beautiful, brittle and raw scenery worth visiting. We meet up at the kiosk by the lake Svartisvatnet. We make sure everything is ok before we take the boat across the lake.
This guided hike will take 5 hours, and the price include the boat-ticket, guide and lunch. At the small hut near the Glacier, we'll have lunch before we go back to take the boat to the other side. We'll make sure to tell you all about the Glacier, surroundings and the people connected to it.
