Latinx Art and Architecture

Description

In this half day tour, explore the complex identity of the Latinxs and the Argentines through their artistic production, as we explore museums, public parks and open air galleries of street art. We’ll start our day at the Museum of Fine Arts talking about the origins of what we consider Argentine art and the emergence of a local identity compared to the European styles. Enjoy paintings by Candido Lopez, Sivori, Schiaffino and others. Then, we move on to the MALBA to finally see a mature Latin Art, with works by Kahlo, Rivero and Berni. After eating a tamales lunch, we set off to see the statue of indigenous revolutionary heroine Juana Azurduy and learn about the political and artistic questions raised by this monumental work.

We’ll finish the day analyzing some amazing graffitis in the La Boca and Barracas area.

If a museum or gallery is closed, we will visit another attraction not listed on this tour.
