The North Coast: Full Day Private Trekking

Description

Description

Step back in time as you explore the North Coast of Easter Island, a place where the ancient Miru clans, descendants of King Hotu Matu’a, once settled. This untouched area, located between the towering slopes of Terevaka Volcano and the island’s West Coast, offers a journey through one of the most desolate yet evocative parts of Rapa Nui. Its isolation ensures that the area remains largely intact, offering a rare glimpse into the island’s past.

As you hike, you will encounter freely grazing animals, archaeological remains, and Ahu platforms, along with Pipi Horeko—ancient markers of demarcation. The remains of Moai sculptures, crafted from different materials than those found at Rano Raraku, lie scattered across the landscape. Explore caves that preserve intact petroglyphs, giving insight into the ancient practices of the island's people. This trek will conclude at Anakena, a royal settlement known for its white sands, turquoise waters, and palm trees.
